Texas Flips Locksley from FSU

Two night before Nationals Signing Day four-star athlete Kai Locksley decided to flip from Florida State to Texas. The Baltimore (Md.) Gilman School star had been committed to the Seminoles since the end of July.
Charlie Strong and the Longhorns have been on a bit of a hot streak lately, shooting up the Rivals.com team rankings. Rivals100 wide receiver John Burt decided to recommit to Texas and Rivals250 defensive backs Kris Boyd and Holton Hill joined the fold late last week.

"I'm basically looking to go down there with my head down, my mouth shut and learn the offensive system and get acclimated to all the drills," said the 6-foot-4, 185-pound Locksley. "I will learn how the University of Texas works their offense and compete for the starting job.
"As a leader and as someone that is trying to build this recruiting class, coach Strong asked me to do it earlier so I could help get those guys that are still deciding and let them know that they have a quarterback and another main piece to the puzzle," he said. "I'm coming after big Daylon Mack and Mr. ITT Tech, Soso Jamabo. Those are the two main guys I am going to focus on."
Locksley has been recruited to play quarterback at Texas, a position vacated by Rivals250 quarterback Zach Gentry after he flipped to Michigan. Locksley's family has a unique connection to Texas. His father, Maryland offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, coached at Florida with Charlie Strong and the families have been close ever since. The future Texas Longhorn has admitted in the past that his relationship with Strong and his family is something that wasn't really being factored into his decision.
"To be honest it didn't really play too much of a factor," Locksley said. "I am definitely familiar with coach Strong and so is my dad. Coach strong was saying that either way I decided to go I would be put in good hands with the coaching staff at Florida State and at Texas because he knows the guys on both staffs.
"It was basically neck and neck for every factor on my list and what I was looking for," he said. "At Texas they had two guys that weren't really able to make too much noise. They said they need somebody to come in and compete, which could make everyone in the quarterback room better. At Florida State there are five other guys that I'd have to compete against. There are opportunities at both places but the numbers work better at Texas."
Locksley, along with De'Andre Johnson and Deondre Francois, was part of a group of three quarterbacks that were committed to Florida State. Many believed that all three would never suit up for Jimbo Fisher and Locksley proved them right Monday evening.
Locksley, who took an official visit to Texas on January 23, was a stand out performer at the Under Armour All-America Game where he played mostly wide receiver.
