Texas eyeing 2017 Georgia QB

Class of 2017 Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove quarterback Jelani Woods is hard to miss on the field. The 6-foot-6, 215-pound prospect had a terrific spring, and now several schools are close to pulling the trigger on an offer.
"Stanford came by and so did Arkansas, N.C. State, Mississippi State, Texas and Tennessee," said Woods. "Several of them told me they want to see me again at camp so I can throw for everyone."

One school that came by and saw enough to offer Woods was USF. The Bulls are his first FBS offer and he said he plans on returning the favor by visiting Tampa later this month.
"They came by school and watched me throw and they liked me," Woods said. "They're telling me to keep doing what I'm doing and they want to get me down to camp to work out so I'm going to make sure I get down there."
Woods trip to USF will be part of a busy summer that includes visits to Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas and a few other programs. Woods said an offer from Longhorns would mean quite a bit.
"Half of my family is from Texas so I always used to go visit campus," he said. "So I'm familiar with the place and I've always loved Texas' offense and how they use their quarterbacks."
Woods plans on spending three days on campus in Austin and said he hopes he can do enough to prove he has the talent to play at a high level.
"I think if I do well the rest will take care of itself," he said. "I think I'll fit in well in Texas' offense because their quarterbacks pass first and that's what I am but I can also run when I have to."
