Texas DT holding five scholarship offers

Garland (Texas) Lake Centennial defensive tackle James McClinton has been working hard this summer in preparation for his senior season.
“We’re in practice now,” the 6-foot-1, 298-pound McClinton said. “But, all summer I was working out and running. Just trying to stay in shape so I’d be ready when the season rolled around.”

The football season is upon McClinton and his teammates. With the opening of the season comes the recruiting contact period.
“I got several calls during May,” the three-star rated tackle said. “Lots of schools called. Five have offered scholarships so far.”
The five with offers on the table are Baylor, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Arizona and Arizona State.
“I’m honored with the offers I have,” he said. “I’m not ready to pick a school yet. I’m curious to learn more about the schools over the next few months.”
Several other schools have been in touch via mail including Iowa, Texas Tech, SMU, Kansas State and New Mexico.
“I don’t want to rush anything. I want to take my time and see what the schools that haven’t offered me have to say as my season goes on. A lot of them have said they are eager to see me in action this fall.”
Don’t look for an early decision from McClinton.
“I plan on taking my time and finding the right place,” he said. “If I have to take all of my visits, then I will.”
