Texas DT headed North for college

Garland (Texas) Lakeview Centennial defensive tackle James McClinton took a little break after his final visit before making his college choice. But, he was sure of the pick after his visit.
“I have committed to Kansas,” the 6-foot-1, 289-pound McClinton said. “I called a couple days after Christmas. I was pretty sure it was the place for me on my visit.

“Everything on the visit made a good impression. It was the good place for me to spend the next four years. I’m excited about going to Kansas next fall.”
McClinton said his phone call caught Jayhawk coach Mark Mangino off guard.
“I think he was surprised when I called him,” McClinton said. “He was excited, but I don’t think he was expecting it right then. I haven’t told the other schools of my decision. They will be calling and I’ll tell them then.”
