Texas DL carries famous name

Humble (Texas) High School has an emerging star with a familiar last name.
Defensive tackle LaMarc Strahan stands 6-foot-4, 330-pounds and has the genes of a future NFL Hall of Famer.

"He is like second cousins to Michael (Strahan)," Humble coach Walt Beasley said. "If and when he gets that mean streak, he will play on Sunday's like his cousin."
Strahan was a first-team, all-district selection as a junior and should dominate the district this season as he has developed.
"If he improves as much as he did last season, the sky is the limit," Beasley said. "He will go wherever he wants to go to college."
For now, the University of Houston is first to jump on the Strahan band-wagon with an official offer. Offers from Kansas State, Nebraska, Baylor and Oklahoma State are coming into focus.
"You can't teach his size," Beasley said. "He moves very well and gets up and down the line of scrimmage. That is what you want from your defensive tackles. He likes defense because good linemen are hard to find, but he could also be a tremendous offensive tackle for someone. His feet and natural strength make him versatile like that."
