Texas defender has top group

Arlington (Texas) Bowie two-star defensive end Eric Mebane has a nice offer list that includes Purdue, Utah, Buffalo, North Texas and UTEP.
He's also getting plenty of attention from other schools like Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa and others, but it looks like a top group has emerged at this point.

"My top teams right now out of my offers would be Purdue, Utah and North Texas," he said. "I think if Arkansas or Iowa offered, then that would shake up my top teams.
"Utah, Purdue and I would say North Texas are the teams that I hear from the most. I know there are a lot of teams that want to see me play my first couple games of the season and then they're going to make their decision."
But Mebane might have his decision out of the way by then.
"I really want to try and make a decision around the beginning of the season and get it out of the way so I can concentrate on the season," he said. "We look good actually. We started two-a-days on Monday. Everybody is out there to work hard. It was kind of warm out there, but hey it's Texas.
"I'd like to make first-team all-district of course. Then as a team we want to make it to that state championship."
This summer Mebane made it to camps and unofficial visits to Missouri, Arkansas, UTEP, Houston and North Texas.
"Missouri's was kind of like an unofficial," he said. "We looked around at the campus and everything. Of all those I visited I would say they were all even. I didn't really have a favorite that stuck out."
