Texas DE sorts through several offers

When looking at the talent present at Rosenberg (Texas) Lamar Consolidated high school, don't forget about defensive end Lavar Brown.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder has recently picked up scholarship offers from several schools including Texas A&M, Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa, Houston, Michigan State and Kansas State. Brown previously had said that A&M was the leader, but says now that he's staying open.

"Really, I'm trying not to decide anytime soon," Brown said. "I don't really have any leaders right now. I'm just going to take some trips close by and go from there."
One of those trips includes a camp stop at Texas A&M.
"It's the closest to me," Brown said. "I should be going to that one but I don't know of any others."
Brown says he's looking for a "family" oriented school especially if it's a ways away from home. Another factor could be where his teammate, Jarvis Jones, ends up.
"We've talked about it a little bit," Brown said about him and Jones ending up at the same school. "We think differently, but if we could come to an agreement, I think we'll try to go to the same school.
"He knows more about colleges than I do. I just know who's good. He knows which sends the most players to the NFL and what coaches send the best players to the pros."
Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Texas Tech are also recruiting Brown.
