Texas DE set for first camp

Carrollton (Texas) Newman Smith defensive end Jesse Funkhas had several school get in touch with him this spring, including a busy Sunday before he begins his summer tour of schools.
"I've had several schools call me," the 6-foot-4, 256-pound Funk said. "SMU, Texas Tech and Arkansas called on Sunday. I had good talks with the coaches from those schools."

Despite the calls, nobody has extended a scholarship offer to Funk at this point.
"I have no offers, yet. Most of the coaches want me to meet their head coaches and see if anything develops after that. They want to see me in person and talk to me for a while and see me workout at camp."
That camp tour will start next week for Funk.
"I am going to K-State's camp next week," he said. "I leave Saturday for Manhattan and I will be there through Wednesday for the camp. I'm looking forward to it. Then, I will take a trip down to College Station to see Texas A&M in a couple weeks. Then, in July, I will go to Arkansas for a visit.
"I don't know that I would say I have one favorite school. Both of my parents went to K-State and I like them quite a bit. I've been exposed to them for a long time."
Funk would like to see several schools before making my choice.
"I would love to take all of my trips and see all of the schools before I make my choice."
