Texas DE plans on being a Jayhawk

It appears the Jayhawks are trying to build for the future and keep their junior college ties going at the same time.
That was apparent when they got an oral commitment from Darius Warner. The strong-side defensive end picked the Jayhawks after they stuck with him over Texas Tech.

"I decided that I wanted to go to Kansas," Warner said. "They were the team that stuck with me through the good and bad times. I went through some tough times off the football field."
Warner's father has been suffering from an illness. That increased his work around the house and taking care of added responsibilities.
"My father was going through some times where I needed to take care of the house," Warner said. "Things started getting very tough in my life. I had to take care of my dad and keep the house up. Kansas was always there."
Warner said Clint Bowen was the Kansas coach recruiting him.
"He never told me what I wanted to hear," Warner said. "But he always told me the truth. We didn't always talk about football. We talked about a lot of other things. I got very comfortable with him."
Warner said he expects to play at Butler County Community College over the next two years.
"Then I plan on attending Kansas," he said. "I just need to work hard and I will get there."
