Texas DE drawing Big Ten interest

Richardson (Texas) Pearce junior defensive end Rush Hughes could be headed out of Big 12 country if his early favorites are any indication.
"I'm interested in the Big Ten schools like Ohio State and Purdue," Hughes said.

Hughes rotated in during his sophomore year before moving into the lineup on a full-time basis this season.
The 6-foot-3 and 230 pound Hughes made 30 solo tackles and had 35 assists. Hughes bench presses 270 pounds and also runs the 100 and 200 meters in track and throws the shot. He has a 2.5 GPA.
His impressive numbers have the attention of numerous colleges.
"I get three or four letters from colleges a day sometimes," Hughes said. "I have a box full of letters.
"Iowa, Arkansas, Texas A&M, SMU, Oklahoma sent two letters. Ohio State and Purdue. Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State, Minnesota, those are some of them."
Even with his early Big 10 interest, he will camp closer to home this summer.
"SMU and Texas A&M asked me to come to their camps," Hughes said. "I'll go to those two for sure."
