Texas DB sets up Iowa visit

Baytown (Texas) Lee safety Charles Godfrey had a slow September, but things are beginning to pick up.
“Charles hasn’t had a lot of calls that he’s told me about,” Baytown Lee coach Dick Olin said. “But, I do know he gets a lot of mail from schools. It’s about the same ones as he’s been getting for quite a while.”

That list includes Houston, Iowa, Kansas State and Missouri.
“Charles is a good player,” Olin said of the 6-foot-1, 205 pound former wide receiver. “He’s been improving quite a bit this year since we made the switch last fall at the end to put him on defense. He’s making a lot of strides.”
Godfrey has lined up his first official visit.
“He’s going to go to Iowa the first weekend of December,” Olin said. “That’s the only official visit he’s set so far. Of course he’s been to Kansas State quite a bit with his brother (Ell Roberson) being there. But, he doesn’t have a date lined up with anyone else yet.”
Godfrey still doesn’t have a scholarship offer, though.
“There are a lot of schools that like to see some of the games during the senior year before they offer,” Olin said. “He’ll have some to pick from.”
