Texas DB picks up early attention

With one prospect already committed from Mansfield (Texas) Timberview, it's no surprise to see several more on the radar. One of those is cornerback Marcus Cromartie.
Cromartie, the 6-foot-1, 165-pounder, has been making the rounds hitting the NIKE Camp in Athens, Ga., and working hard in the off-season. Now, verbal offers are coming in hand for the talented North Texas prospect.
"Wisconsin offered me last week and they said that they liked big, physical corners and that's what I bring to the table," Cromartie said. "Iowa State came to practice and I'm still waiting on the paperwork from them. I talked to Air Force about their offer too."
Even though the offers have come quick, he's not naming favorites and says that all of the schools on his list are even.
Several other schools, such as Florida, Arkansas, and Kansas haven't offered, but are showing a lot of interest.
"It's a lot of Big 12 and SEC schools that have been by the school or are sending mail," Cromartie said. "All of them are medium interest right now though for me. There isn't really a clear favorite yet."
Other Timberview prospects for 2008 include Texas commit Antoine Hicks along with running back Eric Akinyeye, fullback Jay Tolliver, and athlete Rickey Booker.
