Texas commit still being recruited

Collin Johnson committed to Texas last month but that does not mean other top programs have backed off.
Far from it.

The 2016 wide receiver from San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian who looked good at the RCS Northern California said he's sticking with his commitment to the Longhorns but he's even a little surprised his recruitment has picked up so much.
"I didn't think it was going to pick up that much but I went in to talk to my coach and I had multiple letters from SEC schools," Johnson said.
"He told me Alabama called to talk about me and so did Notre Dame. A couple other schools like Penn State called too so I didn't expect all that to come in."
The 6-foot-5, 193-pound prospect who committed to Texas along with his brother, Kirk, was under the impression things would slow down even though people close to him warned that his recruitment could stay busy.
Johnson does not mind the attention but he's shocked by it all especially after he committed to the Longhorns in mid-April.
"I thought schools were going to back off," Johnson said.
"My dad and my coach told me not to expect that because schools are still going to try to recruit me. Some of them if they really want me will recruit me even harder so I have to be prepared for all that. It's certainly starting to pick up here."
Texas seems like the school for Johnson, though, and he's happy with his decision. The 2016 prospect is going to keep an open mind and not eliminate any schools but his commitment remains firm.
"The thing is I'm pretty happy with my decision and I'm really comfortable with where I'm at now," Johnson said.
"Texas is most likely the place I'm going to go because once I committed it's done but you never know what's going to happen to a program. It looks really good right now so I'm sticking with that."
