Texas commit Hayden Conner's recruiting Bryce Foster to Austin

Bryce Foster is a five-star offensive lineman is focused on five schools, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Texas A&M.

His teammate, and close friend Hayden Conner is focused only on one — the Longhorns.

Could the tandem out of Katy (Texas) Taylor High end up playing together in Austin? Conner hopes so.

"I am trying to recruit Bryce," said Conner. "We go to school every day together, we have a locker right next to each other, we play football together, and we are great friends, so we are around each other a lot. I try not to recruit him too much, where he doesn't want to hear anymore, but I really want him to go to Texas with me because I think we really play well together.

"I don't want to turn him away and bother him with it, but I am in his ear just enough. He knows it is close to home, he knows it is a great city, and he knows Texas has a great shot and disc program in track, so there are a lot of reasons he should choose them."

It looks like Conner will have plenty of time to push the burnt orange on Foster. He is down to five schools, but he doesn't plan to make a decision until December.

Conner has one constant phrase that he goes to when talking to Foster about Texas.

"I just tell him it is where family is. I talk about the location too, but it is really about the family and the connection there."

Tom Herman and the Longhorns had some coaching changes since the 2019 season ended, but it is off to a great start in the 2021 class. Texas sits at No. 5 in the Rivals Team Rankings with six commits and this class could be key to the longterm success in Austin.

"Texas used to be one of the best team's in the nation, so the role this 2021 class is trying to take is to bring Texas back to that," said Conner. "We want to put Texas back on the top. We are taking that to heart. I want Bryce to be a part of that."

Does Conner see that happening? Will the two leave Taylor High together and head to Austin?

"I would love to see that, but he is being really quiet about it all," said Conner. "I think we have a shot, and I want to believe that, so I will just leave it at that. I will definitely try to help our chances, but Bryce will be the one making his decision."
