Texas city athlete gets first offer

Brandon Robinson is a blur on ponderosa and the track oval.
Robinson (6-0, 190-pounds) has given Texas City faitful something to look forward to in 2006. The Stingarees backed into the playoffs last season with Robinson's strong quarterback play at the end of the season. He started the last four games and jump-started Texas City's offense with his ability to run the option.

"He's so fast and smart on the football field," Texas City coach Tim Finn said. "He's got a chance to play quarterback in college. If not, he's definitely a skill player."
His combination of speed and smarts has translated into an early official offer from Rice University.
He also starred on the Stings' Class 5A track state championship team, where he surprised his squad with a tremendous season running the hurdles.
"I expect him to get more offers on his senior tape," Finn said. "He came out of no where in the hurdles, so he's obviously very athletic. He can do anything and his grades will give him a great opportunity."
