Texas athlete staying in-state

Little Elm, Texas athlete Cole Beasley decided on Tuesday evening that it was time to make his decision.
The 5-foot-9, 155-pounder had picked up two offers from Air Force and SMU. Several factors led the versatile athlete and district offensive MVP Beasley to make his commitment to the Mustangs.

"I went to their camp, spent three days with their coaches, and liked all of them," Beasley said. "They showed interest in me, I got the offer letter, and that's how it happened."
Beasley said that his choice of major was a big reason why he chose the in-state school.
"I thought it would be good because I'm going to major in business and they said that they have one of the top ten schools in the country for business," Beasley said. "So, my dad thought it would be a great place for me."
Lining up at quarterback for Little Elm, Beasley put together more than 1,000 rushing yards along with more than 1,000 passing yards in 2006 on his way to district honors. At SMU, he said he'll be lining up in different ways.
"They said I'm going to play receiver, kick returner, and punt returner," Beasley said. "It was really close to home and they said I could probably play early. I didn't want to wait until my junior or senior year to play somewhere.
"I think the transition will be a smooth one. I've returned punts and kicks before, so it's going to be good for me. I'll be good in the short throwing game as well."
Beasley was recruited by SMU coach Eric Roark.
