Forney (Texas) North Forney athlete Stephen Buckley has had a very good start to his senior year. Playing quarterback he has led the Falcons to a 3-1 start on the year.
The 6-foot, 178-pound prospect could see several new offers come his way after colleges see him in action this year. However, he did enter the season with a pair of official offers already.
"Right now I have offers from North Texas and ULM," Buckley said. "They both verbally offered me this summer but they sent the written offers to me the first day (it was allowed). I camped at both schools over the summer. I feel like I performed well at both camps. I played to the best of my ability."
A few other programs are showing interest in Buckley as well.
"Air Force seems like they're pretty close to offering," he said. "Kansas State seems very interested right now. Oklahoma's been sending me some stuff too."
In addition to camps in Denton and Monroe, Buckley made some others as well this summer. He garnered quite a bit of interest during the process.
"I went to the SMU camp, the Houston camp, Texas Tech's camp and Louisiana Tech's camp," he said. "Louisiana Tech is also really interested. Texas Tech sent me a letter and told me I performed well and that they'd keep up with me this season. Louisiana Tech, I'm still keeping in contact with their coaches. They were pleased with my performance. They just want to see game film on me now."
Though Buckley lines up behind center for North Forney he is in for a position change at the next level.
"They want me as either a wide receiver or free safety," he said of the schools recruiting him. "It doesn't matter to me at all which one."
Though Buckley says he has no current favorites he does admit that a Big 12 school has piqued his interest.
"Not really," he said. "I mean, Kansas State has been sending a lot of stuff and they're making me really curious. I just want to go visit up there and see what that's all about."
In four games this season Buckley has thrown for 316 yards and a touchdowns while also rushing for 439 yards and another 10 scores.
