Texas ATH ready to rock

"It was a drag, man." That's how Ricky Wilson, one of Texas' best athlete prospects, put it after their first game of the season was postponed a week ago because of the intense rain storms and flooding in Southeast Texas.
Instead of starting their season against Liberty, Wilson and his Port Arthur Lincoln teammates will open up their season against Newton.

Wilson says he hopes to have an even better year than last year, a season that saw him earn some all-state accolades as a defensive back after intercepting six passes.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound cornerback prospect lists Texas, Florida State, Florida, USC and UCLA among his top choices.
Wilson says his three favorites are Texas, Florida and Florida State. If he gets his way, he wants to take official visits to those three schools.
But Wilson has yet to receive any official scholarship offers. A scholarship offer could hinge around Wilson's academic picture - he is not a full academic qualifier to date.
Wilson has already made an unofficial visit to Florida. He participated in the Gators' summer camp where he says he felt like he acquitted himself well.
He also had some nice things to say about the Gainesville, Fla. campus and their coaches.
"It was a nice place," Wilson said. "I just think I would be a good fit there. They have tutors who can help you. I like the way their coaches teach you. And you know they have a good football team."
But Wilson is far from a decision and still has some work ahead of him, both on the field and in the classroom.
