“DeAndre committed to Iowa State this morning," said Jerry Bullit, a close family friend and former little league football coach of Jackson. "He wanted to play quarterback all along, and he was looking for school to let him do that.”
Jackson is an emerging star on the national recruiting scene.
Jackson played free safety as a sophomore, but he bruised his kidney in first game of 2001 season and missed entire year.
He bounced back with a very solid senior season, playing quarterback for the Garland Owls, which were ranked near the top of the state rankings unitl they were upset in the first round of the Texas Class 5A state playoffs.
Jackson is ranked as the naton's No. 53 athlete. Several other schools recruited him to play receiver or even defensive back, but Iowa State (December 13 visit) recruited him play quarterback. He is no longer going to take scheduled visits to A&M and Missouri.
