Texas ATH gets offer No. 1

Recruiting is definitely picking up for Plano (Texas) East athlete Chris Slater.
While trying to keep working in spring ball, he found out a few weeks ago that his first scholarship offer came in from New Mexico State. The 6-foot, 183-pounder definitely has not only options in college choices but positions as well.

"Some schools are recruiting me for wide receiver and running back," Slater said. "Some schools, like Central Florida, have talked about some where as a defensive back. Kick return and stuff has been talked about to."
The first offer definitely caught his eye, but several others could be joining it soon enough.
"It was pretty cool to get that first one in my hands," Slater said. "But, I've already gotten calls this week from Tulane, Wyoming, Utah and I'm getting mail from Stanford, Duke, Baylor, Central Florida, and a lot of others."
As for favorites, Slater is keeping quiet on that front. He just recently returned from the NIKE Training Camp at LSU this past weekend and showed his stuff.
"That went well," Slater said. "I got to see LSU, who has been text messaging me a lot, and I like their facilities there."
