Texas ATH drawing attention to school

Texas City High School often gets overlooked by college recruiters who bypass the school for traditional talent-rich La Marque and Galveston Ball.
Stingaree athlete Jarell Routt is re-routing recruiters to the Class 4A program.

Routt (5-10, 185-pounds) was a second-team, all-district selection as a junior playing receiver and defensive back for the Stingarees.
"Jarell is our best athlete on the field," Texas City recruiting coordinator Tony Willis said. "He is a track athlete, so he can really run. He does a lot of things for us from catching the ball to being a cover corner."
Ole Miss is the first to offer Routt, while other programs are evaluating tape.
"He's a great kid with great upside," Willis said. "He's the kind of kid that practice in the morning and mow lawns or wash cars in the afternoon to make some money. He's got a great work ethic."
Defensive backs Julius Walker (5-10, 170-pounds) and Calvin Silva (6-1, 190-pounds) will also receive interest from Division I schools.
Silva was a first-team selection as a junior, and is receiving interest from Tulane, Kansas State, Iowa State, Texas Tech adn TCU. Walker will have to show up on some early games next season to get his recruitment underway.
