Texas AM commit McNeal switches

Three-star running back Shawnbrey McNeal has made a surprising switch.
The 5-foot-9, 181-pound McNeal has been committed to Texas A&M since mid-September, but there was one school that recently came into the picture. The Dallas (Texas) Madison running back had to go with his heart.

"I'm going to the University of Miami," McNeal said. "Texas A&M is a good school and I'll always love Texas A&M. I just had to do what was right for me and from that standpoint that was right for me."
McNeal and his father said that Miami started to come on strong within the last month. Today the Hurricane coaches delivered the official scholarship offer and McNeal's father said his son fulfilled a "lifelong dream."
"You only get to do this kind of thing once and he had to take the opportunity," McNeal's father said. "Shawnbrey going to Miami has been a lifelong dream for him."
McNeal's father said that within the last month, the Hurricane coaches started to show interest and things moved very quickly.
"There was some interest shown, but it started very late," McNeal's father said. "Shawnbrey was always interested in Miami, but they didn't show him the attention early on."
McNeal, the nation's No. 23 rated running back in the country, will take his official visit on Feb. 2 to Miami. He has no other official visits scheduled.
"No, he's done," McNeal's father said. "This is it for him. He's not taking any more trips and will be going to Miami."
