Texan heads to Big 10

After saying for a month now that he’s leaning toward Purdue, Leander, Texas, two-star receiver Torri Williams has made up his mind. He’s heading to the Big 10.
“You have perfect timing,” Williams’ father, Gerald Green, said. “Torri just called Purdue last night and committed to them. He was very excited about his decision, and so are we. They’ve been on him to make a commitment for the last few weeks, and we really wanted him to get out of Texas.

“So when it came time to make a decision, Torri decided that Purdue is where he wants to play at. He called the receiver’s coach last night and told them the good news. They were obviously very excited, probably even more than we were.”
Purdue is getting a receiver that is shooting up the charts in the Lone Star State. He had 11 touchdown receptions this season and led his team to the state quarterfinals.
“They have an effective offense if you’re a receiver,” Williams said. “I want to be effective in college and catch a lot of ball. I’m also impressed with their academics.”
Williams also had scholarship offers from Kansas and Missouri. He will visit Purdue on January 16.
