Terps, Vols, Cavs for DE

Bethlehem (Pa.) Catholic defensive end Kyle Newell is still stuck on his three favorite schools -- Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect has been stuck on them as his favorites for nearly a month and said he plans to take visits to all three in January.

So what makes these schools stick out over others?
“They’re good academic schools with a good coaching staff and an opportunity to play," said the quiet rush end. "I think I could fit in well at each school."
This season Newell has helped Catholic to a 6-5 record and an opportunity in the playoffs with 630 yards receiving and seven touchdowns from his tight end position and 60 tackles and five sacks as a defensive end.
“My team has been performing well for a young team. I could have done better, but I’ve been hurt with a high ankle sprain, so I’ve been fighting through that.”
Newell said schools are looking at him for multiple positions including tight end and defensive end.
As for when a decision will be, he said he is unsure, but it’ll probably be made closer to Signing Day.
Asked if he has a leader, Newell simply responded, "No, not at this time. After my visits most likely."
