Terps, Tigers out in front for Georgia FB/LB

No matter which side of the ball he eventually lines up, Antonio Lamar is all about power and intensity.
“I don’t really have a favorite position,” said the Brookwood (Ga.) fullback/linebacker/end. “I’m probably best at running the ball. I like the power running game between the tackles. I’m aggressive. But some coaches also like my athleticism at end or linebacker or D-end. I think I could do a good job at any of those spots.”

Lamar (6-2, 240, 4.56) rushed for 1,210 yards as a junior. He’s picked up a scholarship offer from Maryland and is also being recruited hard by Auburn.
“Those seem to be the main ones right now,” he said. “They’re the most interested. Maryland is looking pretty good, since they offered. It’s a good school with a good all-around athletic program.
“Auburn is a great program with good facilities and fans. They’ve got a nice all-around environment there.
“I also like Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.”
Georgia would likely vault to the top of his list if an offer materialized. Lamar’s father, Frederick, played for the Bulldogs. But he says they’ve not shown consistent interest to date.
With that in mind, he may wait as long as possible to make a decision. A big senior season may help boost his stock with the Bulldogs or rival Georgia Tech.
Lamar is also a solid student, maintaining a 2.8 GPA and a 910 on the SAT.
