Position: Wide receiver/free safety
Size and speed: 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds.
Honors: South Carolina Class A Player of the Year, all-state, all-region
Statistics: On offense, Hamlin had 31 receptions for 475 yards, and six touchdowns. He also made 96 tackles, 10 interceptions, four tackles for loss and two forced fumbles on defense. On special teams he averaged 18.1 yards on punt returns and had one punt return for a touchdown.
Favorite schools: South Carolina, Tennessee, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech.
Skinny: Michael Hamlin is a big-time playmaker for head coach J.R. Boyd.
“He’s an impact player on both sides of the ball and a great leader on the defensive side of the ball.” said Boyd.
Hamlin, the defending Player of the Year in Class A football, is still finding ways to improve.
“I want to work even harder in the weight room and attend a couple of camps.”
Hamlin has a 245-pound bench press and a 400-pound squat. Hamlin also works hard in the classroom with a 3.67 grade point average.
Hamlin grew up a Clemson fan but remains open about his college choice. However, three schools stand out on his list.
“Maryland, South Carolina, and Clemson. I like all three,” he said.
Hamlin is planning to attend camps at South Carolina, Clemson and Maryland.
