Terps reel in four commitments

Four commitments in one fell swoop is not a bad day's work for Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen and his staff. That's exactly what happened Sunday at their academic junior day on campus.
"I'm not sure who committed first or whatever, but I know there were four of us," said Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic cornerback Anthony Wiseman, who was actually the last to commit on Sunday. "I committed because I was impressed with the new stadium expansion they're doing, the academics and the chance to win a title with Maryland.

"I really like coach Franklin there too, he's a great guy," said the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder. "I was waiting for Miami to offer me, but after today I figured there was no reason -- Maryland is home and is my top choice by far."
Wiseman also had offers from Nebraska, Syracuse, Clemson, Pitt, Penn State, Virginia Tech and many others. As a junior, he rushed for 900 yards and 10 scores while intercepting three passes on defense.
Joining Wiseman are White Plains (Md.) Lackey running back Morgan Green, Oradell (N.J.)Bergen Catholic wideout Isaiah Williams and Tucker, Ga. athlete Brandyn Young. All but Young were available for comment.
"I figured, why wait any longer?" said Green, a 5-foot-11, 205-pounder who rushed for 2,630 yards and 26 scores as a junior. "I received offers from Virginia, Penn State, Florida, NC State and some others recently, but since last week I was sure it was Maryland. I talked it over with my coach (Scott Chadwick) and family and figured there was no use waiting on it anymore. Maryland has always been my favorite school and I liked them even before they were winning. Now, over the last three years, they're national title contenders. You can't beat that."
Williams, a 6-foot-3, 190-pounder, agreed.
"I knew last week, before my visit down there Sunday that I was going to commit," he said. "Maryland was the first school to offer me, they offered at the Elite College Combine in New Jersey through my coach, and I've always wanted to play in the ACC. I've also been down there three times now and I feel good about the staff, coach Franklin and the direction of the program."
Williams also received offers from Syracuse, West Virginia and Wisconsin following his standout combine performance.
Young, a 6-foot-0, 190-pounder who could play running back, defensive back or wideout at Maryland, filled in very well last season for Georgia signee Thomas Brown when the latter went down with a broken leg. Young, whose father is the equipment manager for the Atlanta Falcons, had offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech and others before deciding on Maryland.
The four commitments give the Terps six in total, joining Pennsylvania offensive lineman Dave McClain and DeMatha defensive back Jeff Allen.
