Terps land Bishop McDevitt tackle

Maryland is now two-for-two with Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt prospects. The Terps already landed quarterback Jeremy Ricker at the beginning of the month and now they have added his offensive tackle Tucker Baumbach.
The 6-foot-5, 335-pounder chose Maryland over an offer from Syracuse. Baumbach talked to us on Monday but asked that we hold the release of the article until Wednesday at 3:30PM.

"I haven't been able to get a hold of coach Friedgen, but I told coach Bratten and Brossard of my commitment," he said on Monday. "They seemed very excited and happy for me. There were a lot of congratulations all around and they are happy to have me be a part of the team and they can't wait for me to get down there."
Baumbach has since spoken to coach Friedgen. As for what stood out, there were a few factors that played into the prospect's decision.
"What stuck out most about them was how close it was to home, it's really nice having a close school and I'm really interested in going into their criminal justice program. They've got a great program there," he said. "Everything worked out perfectly and all the coaches and facilities are great. I also just liked the look of everything there and it may be cliché to say this, but Jeremy said the same thing and that was that Maryland seems like home over any other college."
What are Baumbach's thoughts on joining his quarterback in college and will they try to recruit other Bishop McDevitt players?
"We get along well now and it should be fun when we go to college and play together," he said. "I know that Jeremy and I have the same mindset about Maryland and we're just going to let the other guys make up their minds on their own."
Baumbach is glad to have his decision over with.
"It's a huge weight off my shoulders now that it's done," he said. "I'm glad to be done with everything because it got very stressful and time consuming with the phone calls, emails and all that stuff. It's just nice to get it done with."
Baumbach hopes to bring a lot with him when he gets to Maryland.
"I think they need huge linemen and I feel I have the talent and type of personality to help the team."
No official visit has been scheduled yet, but the prospect plans to attend multiple games this season.
"I plan to go to a bunch of games, but I've got my last year of high school and grades that come first," he said. "When I watch them this year though I'm going to be looking at their offensive linemen and trying to learn from them to sort of hone my skills towards what Maryland is looking for. If I can learn the steps early, I can make my transition that much easier."
Baumbach added one last note to Terp fans.
"I'm really excited and looking forward to going down there and I'm hoping that they have a good year this season."
