Terps land a lineman

Fear the turtle. The Maryland Terps have a new offensive lineman to round out their roster for next season -- and he's a very good one.
Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson offensive guard Donnie Woods has made his decision, and now he's ready to head to his new home in January.

"I was blown away by Maryland," said the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder. "The way the players all get together and the fact that coach Friedgen was an offensive lineman -- he takes care of the big guys up front."
For the longest time it looked as though North Carolina would be the place for Woods. However, Maryland also impressed him even before the visit.
"They stuck with me like North Carolina did," he said. "When I got hurt (blew out his ACL) they still said they wanted me to enroll in January."
Will he play Spring ball at Maryland?
"No, they're having it in February because of some construction," he said. "But I will get a head start on the playbook and will be able to start working out by the summer."
Woods was hosted by Kyle Schmitt. He had offers from UNC, Florida State and many others.
