Terps go to Ohio for latest commit

Every few years it seems that the Maryland coaches target a few kids from the state of Ohio that they know they have a shot at. This year they landed their first commitment from the state, a big offensive tackle.
"I committed to Maryland today," said Mason, Ohio offensive tackle Zach Marshall. "It came down to Michigan State and Maryland and I just felt closer and more comfortable with the Maryland staff."

Marshall, who is 6-foot-7 and 280 pounds, had offers from the Terps, Spartans, Pitt and Boston College. He was also getting interest from Purdue and Iowa amongst others.
"I went to a one-day camp at Maryland and really liked it there," he said. "Maryland offered me before the camp, around a month ago, but I really fell in love with the place when I visited. I have a cousin who works for the government in Arlington, Va. so I have some family there, but not much. That wasn't really a factor."
What was a factor was the new strength of the ACC.
"With Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College coming in, the ACC is as good a conference as there is in football," he said. "As good as the Big 10, which is what I always followed. I'm excited about the chance to play in the conference."
Marshall was an all-conference selection his junior season. He is ranked as the No. 26 player in Ohio by Rivals.com.
