Terps, Cocks lead for Georgia FB

Maryland remains the team to beat for Brookwood (Ga.) fullback/linebacker Antonio Lamar, but another top program is sitting in position to grab his attention.
“Maryland is the only school with an offer right now, so they’re definitely on top,” he said. “But I like South Carolina a whole lot, too. I’m going there for their game against LSU this weekend. I’m hoping they’re going to offer me. I see a lot of good things about their program. I love coach Holtz and their whole staff.”

Lamar (6-2, 240, 4.56) says he’s also receiving interest from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee and Georgia Southern, as well as some other smaller programs.
“I’m going to wait and see what happens before I take any official visits,” he said. “I probably won’t schedule those until after the season is over. I know Maryland will be one of those.”
He’s helped lead Brookwood to a 4-1 record this year, but didn’t recall any of his game stats. As a junior, he rushed for 1,210 yards.
Academically, he carries a 2.7 GPA and has scored a 1050 on the SAT.
