Tennessee tight end Jacob Warren excited to visit Oregon this weekend

The Latest: The past few months have been very fruitful for three-star Tennessee tight end Jacob Warren as his recruitment has gone from good to great. Several new programs have joined his offer list and he’s starting to hit the road for visits. On Friday Warren and his mother will hit the road for an unofficial visit to Oregon, the school Warren said was one of his childhood favorites. Rivals.com caught up with Warren to talk about what he’s expecting to see on his journey to the Pacific Northwest.

In His Words: “Oregon has always been that school that I’ve liked and always watched. Their players are always hype; it’s just a cool team to watch. I jut think from my childhood and stuff I’ve always wanted to check it out and I think is my opportunity. I have high expectations for the visit, all I’ve heard is really good stuff about their facilities and stuff and talking to their coaches I’m expecting to have a really good time.”

On his relationship with the coaches: “Coach Arroyo, the offensive coordinator, he used to be at Oklahoma State and he was talking to me when he was there. When he got to Oregon he did a good job of keeping in touch and he offered me about a month ago. When I got the offer it was a crazy so I wanted to get out there and take a visit as soon as possible.”

On Oregon’s pitch: “One of the things they’re saying is that they’re losing their top two guys at tight end so they need somebody to step in and fill that hole that they have right now and they think I can be that guy. We haven’t gotten too in-depth on scheme and stuff but that’s what I’m hoping to learn more about on this visit.”

On the possibility of going far from home: “If I need to be at a school that’s not right down the street from my house then I’m not going to let that stop from going there.”

Rivals Reaction: Warren isn’t shy about his love for the Ducks and the fact that both he and his mother set up the visit to quickly should be seen as a sign that’s he’s serious about giving the school a long look. It’s going to be tough for Oregon to pull him out of the heart of SEC country, but the school has signed at least one prospect out of Tennessee in each of the last three classes.
