Tennessee star mulling two-sport future

One of Tennessee’s top two-sport prospects just returned from an elite baseball camp that has him mulling over his college future.
“I just got back from the Perfect Game National camp in Nebraska,” said Michael Fisher of Nashville’s Montgomery Bell Academy. “I went to one of their showcases down in Florida, and out of about 120 players they invited eight to the nationals, and I was one of them. We played a bunch of games in front of the scouts.”

Fisher (6-2, 187, 4.7) is a middle infielder in baseball and a quarterback on the gridiron. As a junior, he led MBA to the Division II state championship and earned Super 7 All-State MVP honors after passing for 2,600 yards and 22 touchdowns.
But is football where his future lies?
“Right now, I haven’t decided,” he said. “I’m not sure which sport I want to play, or if I want to try both. I really like them both. I need to find out a little more about where I stand with the schools recruiting me.”
Fisher has received calls from Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee in recent weeks. He’s also had interest from LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Iowa and North Carolina, among others. Most of them are showing interest in both sports.
He attended LSU’s camp earlier this month.
“I don’t really have a favorite, but I had a good time down there (in Baton Rouge),” he said. “They have a great program in both sports.”
Fisher, who plays football for former NFL quarterback Jeff Rutledge at MBA, also has a brother who plays for LSU's tennis team.
He doesn’t have any plans to attend other football camps this summer due to his busy baseball schedule.
Academically, he maintains a 3.2 GPA and has scored a 21 on his SAT.
