Tennessee safety likes Vols

Jacquez Williams has his ideal college team in mind.

Now he's just waiting to see if they have their minds on him.
Williams will have a chance to help himself this summer when he makes his
lone camp appearance at Tennessee, his longtime favorite program.
"I've grown up watching Tennessee. It's somewhere I'd really like to play,"
said the 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety from Gattlatin. "I'm really looking forward
to going to camp there. Hopefully, I can show what I can do and get a
scholarship offered."
He's also received an offer from Liberty and interest from Middle Tennessee,
Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Alabama.
Williams was a two-way star as a junior, rushing for 808 yards and 12
touchdowns and recording 70 tackles and two interceptions to earn all-state
honors on defense.
"I stepped up in big games," he said. "That's probably my strength as a
player. I make a lot of big plays, big hits."
And areas he's working on this summer?
"I just need to get stronger," he said. "UT is saying I could play either
strong safety or outside linebacker. They think I could put on 20 or 25 pounds
pretty easy and be a linebacker. I like the sound of that.
"But to do that, I need to work really hard in the weight room. Last year, I
was probably too basketball-oriented. I'm still playing basketball, but I'm
dedicating myself a little more to football now."
