Tennessee QB sets another visit

One of Tennessee’s top quarterback prospects has scheduled another official visit.
“I’ve got my first visit at Ole Miss on Jan. 9, and I just set one up with Memphis for the next week, Jan. 16,” said Memphis Ridgeway standout Will Hudgens. “Those are the main two right now. I’m not sure if I’ll take any others. If I do, it might be Mississippi State or Arkansas State or Alabama.”

Hudgens (6-4, 200, 4.85) led Ridgeway to the Class 3A championship as a junior. This season, he’s got his squad rolling into the playoffs at 7-3 after passing for 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns in the regular season.
Ole Miss, Memphis, Mississippi State and Arkansas State have all offered scholarships. Alabama has stayed in contact with him throughout the process, although the Crimson Tide have yet to make it official.
Asked to break down his co-leaders, Hudgens said:
“Ole Miss has the SEC factor. It’s close to home. I like the coaching staff a whole lot. They’ve had a great season. I like the way they pass the ball a lot, but also have that running game that can take the pressure off the quarterback.
“Memphis is right here at home, and they’ve changed a lot of attitudes about that program. Coach West and his staff have done a great job. They’re real competitive with everyone they play, and the fans are starting to come out. They’re No. 2 in Conference USA attendance, I think. That’s pretty impressive because a few years ago nobody was watching them.”
Hudgens said he expects to be redshirted, so the immediate quarterback playing time situation at those schools is not very important in his decision-making process.
Academically, Hudgens carries a 2.6 GPA and has scored a 19 on the ACT. He projects as a full-qualifier.
