Through all the uncertainty surrounding the Tennessee coach search, four-star quarterback Adrian Martinez remained committed.

The Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West entertained other schools and landed new offers and this past weekend he took an official to Nebraska.

Martinez met with coach Scott Frost, talked with some players and got a better feel for Lincoln. It was an excellent and valuable trip as his recruitment continues.

“I had a great time on my Nebraska visit and really enjoyed being around the people involved in the program,” Martinez said.

“Coach Frost is a genuine, real down-to-earth guy who is a proven big-time coach. The rest of the staff was awesome. It seems like they have a great group of men who love coaching with each other.”

For a few weeks, the four-star quarterback has been trying to figure out an official visit to Missouri but it looks like that probably won’t happen now especially since assistant coach Josh Heupel took the UCF job.

It could be about time for Martinez, who had been previously committed to Cal, to figure out exactly what he’s going to do with his recruitment - stick with the Volunteers and new coach Jeremy Pruitt or possibly flip to Nebraska after his trip there.

In the last few days, Martinez has also talked with the new Tennessee staff. Soon enough, a final decision could be made.

“I plan to evaluate everything this upcoming week,” Martinez said. “I talked with (Tennessee assistant) coach (Tyson) Helton as well and they love my skill set. The message really is they want me and can’t wait to coach me.”
