Tennessee QB changes plans

Smyrna (Tenn.) quarterback David Wolke was scheduled to make an SEC visit this weekend, but wound up canceling his plans.
“I didn’t make it to Ole Miss,” he said. “They have some quarterbacks who have committed or something, and said they weren’t going to offer any more quarterbacks. I don’t know what happened. I just wish they had told me before hand what they were going to do.”

Ole Miss doesn’t have any public commitments at the quarterback position, but is in the mix for several top players in a search for an eventual successor to Eli Manning.
So where does that leave Wolke?
“I went on a visit to Wake Forest last week. I liked it a lot,” he said. “So they’re still a possibility. Kentucky has started to show more interest in me, and Notre Dame’s supposed to be coming to the house on Monday. Alabama and Florida asked for some senior video. I’m expecting to hear back from them sometime soon.
“I know I’m going to get a chance to play somewhere. I’m just going to be patient and try to pick the best school for me.”
Wolke (6-3, 205, 4.68) also lists offers from Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Syracuse and Nebraska. As a senior, he passed for 1,800 yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for more than 400 yards. He led Smyrna to a 9-3 record.
