Tennessee OL likes Rebels, Tigers

Memphis (Tenn.) Christian Brothers is one of the state’s top programs with numerous prospects from year to year.
Defensive tackle Corey Mills has been attracting a lot of major college attention since his junior season, but one of his fellow linemen is now starting to draw some impressive offers himself.

“I have offers from Ole Miss, Memphis and Mississippi State,” said offensive tackle Brandon Pearce. “I’ve gotten calls from Ole Miss, Memphis, MTSU, UT-Chattanooga and Arkansas State this week. I haven’t heard from Mississippi State yet, which is kind of weird, because they offered me this summer. I’m not sure what’s going on there.”
Pearce (6-5, 250, 5.0) said he’s also receiving interest from Florida and Southern Miss, among others.
Any favorites?
“They’re all pretty much equal right now,” he said. “The ones who have offered are up on top, but I’m still keeping my options open.
“I like Ole Miss and their tradition. It’s a great school with a real nice atmosphere. I like the fact that they’re in the SEC and they have consistent winning teams. They also like to redshirt their linemen, and that’s something that I need to do. I want to have a year to workout and learn and just get physically ready for the college game.
“Memphis has a good coaching staff. I’ve met all those guys at camp this summer and really like them. They’ve done a good job turning that program in the right direction. I think they’re really going to be good the next couple of years. Plus, it’s right here in my hometown.”
Pearce took in the Ole Miss-Memphis game last weekend, getting an up-close look at both of his potential leaders.
“It was a good game. I liked what I saw from both of them,” he said.
He plans to be in Oxford this Saturday for the Rebels’ game against Louisiana-Monroe.
