Tennessee OL commit Ollie Lane loving life since pledging to Vols

The Latest: Growing up in the shadow of the University of Tennessee, Ollie Lane set his sights on playing for the Vols one day. After committing to the school last month, it’s only a matter of time before his longtime dream becomes a reality. But while his commitment received plenty of fanfare locally, he didn’t realize just how much the Vols fan base noticed until he visited campus for the school’s spring game. Rivals.com caught up with Lane at the recent Charlotte stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series to talk about how things have changed since he made his commitment official.

In His Words: “It just felt great. It felt like everything I wanted it to be for sure. Committing to Tennessee has been a dream of mine for a while and to be able to make it a reality and getting to go around and everyone knows who I am at the stadium is a pretty awesome experience that I don’t think I would have gotten anywhere else.”

On the difference before and after committing: “I would go to places and people would know who I am. I was going through the stadium trying to find my seat and people were saying congratulations and stuff like that. The fan base Tennessee has is huge and I’m glad I get to be a part of the program.”

Thoughts on Vols on-field performance during spring: “With the limited depth that the offensive line had they looked really good. Of course the quarterback battle was good. Trey Smith looked great and all the offensive linemen did really well for what they had.”

On who will win the QB competition: “I don’t know. They both looked really great so it should be a good one for sure.”

On who he is recruiting: “I’m just trying to help out as much as I can. We have some local people like Jacob Warren from Farragut that I’m trying to catch on board to come to the Vols but whoever they want me to talk to I’ll talk to.”

Rivals Reaction: Lane is about as solid as it gets for a prospect so it’s very unlikely he even visits another school, let alone flip some place out. He should serve as a good asset for the Vols coaches as he chips in on the recruiting trail as well.
