A little over a week ago, Class of 2016 Columbia (Tenn.) Spring Hill quarterback Tylin Oden was a virtual unknown in the recruiting world. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound signal-caller has never been to camp or combine and a college coach had never stopped by campus to see him.

However, after his senior film started to make the rounds Oden was quickly awarded a four-star ranking by Rivals.com, and on Friday morning he picked up his first scholarship offer, courtesy of Tennessee.
"It's crazy it's all just happened really fast," Oden said. "At first you think you're not special and then all of a sudden you're special and I wonder why it happened to me. It's just crazy but I'm very thankful."
The Volunteers offer became official on Friday when assistant coach Tommy Thigpen stopped by Oden's school. He said getting an offer is big enough, but getting one from tradition in-state power Tennessee means even more.
"It's means a lot especially because it's my home state," he said "It's an honor just to receive something like that from a program as big as Tennessee and it makes me feel special that they see my talent."
Oden said he got to watch several of Tennessee's games this year, and was impressed with the offense, especially after Josh Dobbs took over as the quarterback.
"I think it was a good season for them and a season that they needed so they could find out who they are," Oden said. "I think it was nice to see Joshua Dobbs at quarterback because he kind of reminds me of myself. I like the way he plays and I could see myself fitting in there."
Oden, who is also receiving interest from Kentucky, Ole Miss, Notre Dame and UCLA, said that even though Tennessee has a quarterback committed in the 2016 class in Rivals100 prospect Austin Kendall, he's not afraid of a little competition.
"I think it would be a challenge but I'm all about challenges," Oden said. "I think it would just be something that would make us both better to grow and compete against one another."
As a junior Oden had 1,947 yard of total offense, as well as 15 touchdowns passing and 13 touchdowns rushing.
