Tennessee moves in on Hazelton

Staten Island (N.Y.) Moore Catholic wide receiver Vidal Hazelton will officially have a new home come Aug. 11 when he joins the team at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. When it comes to Hazelton's future home in college, the Tennessee Volunteers have suddenly leap-frogged a few teams on Hazelton's list and are solidly in his top five.
"Tennessee is a good program," said the 6-foot-3, 194-pounder who recently ran a 4.47-second 40-yard dash in New York. "I've done some research on them and they have solid quarterbacks, they put players in the NFL and they have a great fan following and stadium. They're in my top five now."

Who else makes the cut?
"Miami, Florida and Florida State have been there since I went down and saw all three and they'll stay there," he said. "Virginia Tech is also in there but I'm still looking at Virginia as well, they're sixth."
Hazelton has one official visit set for Sept. 4 at Florida State when they take on Miami on Monday night. He thinks he'll take all five official visits now.
"I'll probably wait until around October now to decide," he said. "At first I wanted to get it done in September and I still might not need all five visits, but right now I think I might take them."
For now, Hazelton is focused on his senior year and academics.
"Landstown would have been a good place to play and I'm cool with Percy and Damon," he said of the Virginia Beach program led by Percy Harvin and Damon McDaniel. "But I think I can focus a little more at Hargrave on my senior year and academics. I think it's a good fit for me."
Hazelton recently checked in at 6-foot-3 and a solid 194 pounds and ran that 4.47-second 40-yard dash.
"I worked hard for that man," he said. "My goal was to get below 4.5 before the end of the summer and I worked hard to do that. I also grew an inch it seems because I measured 6-foot-3.2 and I was a little over 6-foot-2 at the NIKE Camp."
