The Latest: The state of Tennessee is loaded with talent in the 2018 class and Rivals250 wide receiver Camron Johnson is one of the state’s best. So it makes sense that he’s already a priority prospect for the in-state Tennessee Volunteers. Rivals.com caught up with Johnson to talk about his relationship with the Vols and to check in on his offseason plans.

In His Words: “Tennessee has stayed in touch the whole time through the process. Vanderbilt has been talking to me, too and Ohio State has been on me a lot lately and talking to me a ton. South Carolina started talking to me a lot, Duke has talked to me a lot too so it’s getting interesting.”

On the Vols season: “I think this year they used their receivers a little bit more than they have in the past. They had a couple of big games and they had a good season. They had a lot of injuries that sort of made not get to where they wanted to be or where their fans wanted them to be but overall I think they had a pretty successful season.”

On who the Vols compare him to: “They haven’t really compared me to anyone they have lately. Early on they told me they think I can play a role like Josh Malone and be a deep threat down the field and play inside or outside. I like that comparasion because I think I can do both.”

On his relationship with the Vols coaches: “I definitely feel like a priority. They text me, Coach Azzanni and Coach Jones, they hit me up every day and let me know that I’m a guy they really want.”

Rivals Reaction: The Vols took some heat for letting elite prospects slip out of the state in the 2017 class and are trying to make sure it doesn’t happen again in 2018. Johnson is a priority and with good reason. He has upcoming trips to Duke, Vanderbilt and South Carolina and an offer from Ohio State seems imminent.
