Favorite Schools: Wake Forest, Louisville, Auburn, North Carolina.
Skinny: Knoxville (Tenn.) Webb coach David Meske has a good point of reference when asked to assess the D-I prospects of his star linebacker, Greg Rolfes.
“We had a linebacker (Bryan White) here a couple of years ago who was pretty similar in ability to Greg, and he played quite a bit for Virginia last year,” Meske said. “Greg isn’t quite as fast – he’s more of a Mike linebacker – but he’s more physical at this point. I think he’s got a chance to be as good or better than Bryan.
“His physical strength (315 bench, 435 squat) and aggressiveness are his main attributes. He also sees the field extremely well, gets a great jump on the ball and has a tremendous impact when he gets there.
“Off the field, he’s a great kid and one of the hardest workers I’ve ever had.”
Rolfes, who recorded 103 tackles as a junior and has been a starter since the middle of his freshman season, has been receiving heavy interest from Wake Forest. He’s also getting attention from Auburn, Louisville and North Carolina among others.
“I think those are his four favorites right now,” Meske said.
Meske said Rolfes is also a strong student and should be fully qualified.
