Tennessee added a massive piece to its star-studded 2025 recruiting class.

Isaiah Campbell, the No. 4-ranked DT in the Rivals250 out of North Carolina, committed and signed with the Volunteers during National Signing Day on Wednesday afternoon.

The one-time Clemson verbal picked Tennessee over the in-state Tar Heels. Tennessee and North Carolina battled back and forth over Campbell since he reopened his recruitment midway through his senior season.

No team has pressed the right buttons more often than the Vols did with the touted defensive line target.

"Tennessee fits me, and they fit who I am as a person and what I like," Campbell told Rivals.

Campbell made a string of visits back to Rocky Top since backing off his Clemson verbal commitment midway through the fall. That includes an official visit in October and a return to Knoxville last month just ahead of the Early Signing Period.

The Tennessee coaches have kept their feet on the gas pedal with the top-100 defensive lineman leading into his announcement on Wednesday.

"Coach (Tim) Banks, Coach Chop (Levorn Harbin), Coach (Rodney) Garner, and all the way up to Coach (Josh) Heuepel ... they've been men of character and they've been on me," Campbell previously told Rivals. "They're recruiting me hard. We're developing more of a relationship now that I'm gonna see them in person, see their facilities. As a player, as a person, I'm gonna see who they are. Even though we've been talking to them on the phone, I want to Thank God to be in this spot and this place because I get to see more."

"They've made me feel like a priority and they allow me to be me," he continued. "Through that, we're building genuine relationships -- the relationships that are gonna travel. Now, it's all about coaching, but the relationships you build with the people at Tennessee -- they've been consistent with that."

Tennessee edged out North Carolina for Campbell, the No. 83 overall player in the Rivals250 for this 2025 cycle.

The Vols have been trending for weeks with the four-star DL target.

"Honestly, just had to clear up some loose ends, had to talk to the academic department, we had to talk about scheme wise about me, about where I would be as a defensive lineman," Campbell said. "Tying up loose ends. I came to my official and I got to see a lot of what the program is and so I just really wanted to see more about it."

"I love the academics over there," he added.
