Tennessee ATH commits

Hixson (Tenn.) athlete Wilford Blowe has found his college home.
“I committed to UT-C this weekend after making my official visit there,” he said. “My head coach really thought that might be the best fit for me. I had a lot of the bigger schools drop off a little bit because they were worried about this nagging ankle injury I had my whole senior season, but UT-C stuck with me and made me feel wanted.”

Asked what stood out to him on his visit to Chattanooga, Blowe (6-0, 187, 4.5) said: “Mainly the coaches. They were very energetic and confident about where they’re going to take their program. Plus, I think I’ve got a good opportunity to get on the field and play early there.”
Auburn, Tennessee, Marshall, South Carolina, Middle Tennessee and Vanderbilt were among the schools showing interest during the season, but Blowe said they fell out of contact as they learned of a severe high-ankle sprain that had slowed him as a senior.
"They told my coach they were worried I might not come back from that, but I'm almost 100 percent again," he said.
Blowe said he was recruited as a slot receiver/running back, depending on how his body matures between now and when he reports to school.
“I’m 195 pounds right now, so they’re thinking I may turn into a running back,” he said. “But as of now, I think they’re thinking about wide receiver.”
He played a dual-threat quarterback role in high school.
