Ten offers for 2014 DE

Even before his junior season begins, Jalyn Holmes has ten offers. The defensive end from Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor is sure to get plenty more before his recruitment is finished but along the way he is hoping to pick up offers from two particular schools.
"I'd love an offer from Florida State and Notre Dame," said the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Holmes. "FSU has been my favorite school because of the tradition and history. Hopefully I get an offer from Notre Dame soon, but I'm not sure right now. I like their 3-4 defense and their offense. I don't have a preference between a 3-4 and a 4-3, but I like the way Notre Dame does it."

A few of the ten offers that Holmes already has have come in from schools like Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Miami, Penn State, Virginia, Vanderbilt and Maryland. Do any of them stand out in Holmes' eyes?
"No, all the schools are equal right now," he said. "I'll probably choose my school on signing day of my senior year."
The off-season can be a busy time for recruits, so Holmes explained how he is spending the time.
"I've been to a 757 camp and the Nike camp up in Baltimore," Holmes explained. "I also went to the Virginia Tech spring game, but that's the only college visit right now. We're going to a team camp at Clemson next weekend and an East Carolina camp. Clemson came by the school not too long ago and I talked with them for a while."
Last season Lake Taylor lost a tough game to the eventual state champions, Hampton (Va.) Phoebus, in the second round of the state playoffs. With another year under his belt, Holmes and his teammates have high hopes for the upcoming year.
"We have a good team coming back," Holmes said. "We just need to work hard and hopefully we can win the state championship."
