Telly Plummer cuts list to five

The original plan was to cut his list to five schools on his birthday in late July, but Telly Plummer decided to bump it up a month and reveal his favorites June 25.

Rivals broke the news last week that Notre Dame and Ole Miss would make the cut, so what other three schools round out his top five?

"Georgia Tech, Penn State and Louisville are the other schools," said Plummer. "Those three, Ole Miss and Notre Dame are my top five. Those are the schools I plan on taking official visits to now."

Here is what Plummer said about each school in his top five.

GEORGIA TECH: "It is the best of both worlds at Georgia Tech. I have a chance to play early there, it is a great academic school and it is a good football program."

LOUISVILLE: "I like coach Ward, the defensive backs coach there a lot and he is a good coach. They have a very good football team and I would have a chance to play early there."

NOTRE DAME: "I have built a strong relationship with coach Lyght, the Notre Dame defensive backs coach. We talk almost daily right now and we always talk about my life after football if I choose Notre Dame. That speaks to me a lot."

PENN STATE: "The atmosphere is great up there and they one of the top football programs in the nation. Coach Franklin is a great coach and he has them improving every year."

OLE MISS: "Ole Miss has a strong team in the SEC and I like that a lot. A lot of top teams play in the SEC and coach Jones feels I could do big things there. I like how they play football there."

At this time, the Yellow Jackets, Cardinals, Irish, Nittany Lions and Rebels will host Plummer on an official visit. The cornerback out of Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes thought a few months ago that he would commit before his senior season, but that is no longer the plan.

"I am going to commit during the season now," said Plummer. "I do not think I will be ready to do it on my birthday and I want to take all five official visits first, so I am going to wait a little longer. I am not sure how long into the season and I have not looked at timeline or anything, but it will happen during the season."

Plummer plans to visit Louisville, Notre Dame and Ole Miss in July.
