Telemaque shines in 7 on 7

We didn't see a more impressive defensive player than Long Beach Poly's (Calif.) Vaughn Telemaque at last Friday's NIKE 7 on 7 Passing Championship. The talented safety recently picked up his first offer and looks the part of one of the top defensive backs in the West region.
We saw Telemaque at the SoCal NIKE Camp back in April but he looks like a different player now. He's noticeably bigger and is playing with a ton of confidence after standout showings at the USC and Arizona State football camps.
"I've probably put on about 10-12 pounds since the NIKE Camp," Telemaque said. I weight right around 192 pounds now and I'm feeling really good physically. I'm a hungry football player right now and I'm very happy with how I've been playing lately."
At 6-2, 190 pounds, Telemaque has a great frame and we can easily see him getting up to 225 pounds or so without losing any of his speed or quickness. He's very rangy and covers a lot of ground. He was constantly around the ball for Poly and a big reason the Jackrabbits took home the tournament title.
On the recruiting front, Telemaque is hearing from school all over the country and his first offer comes from ACC country.
"North Carolina just offered me last week," Telemaque said. "I talked to them on Tuesday and they made the offer and said to expect something in the mail from them shortly.
"It's exciting to get that first offer and I'm very interested in North Carolina right now. I've been talking to them a lot and I hear from several different coaches on the staff.
"I'm also hearing from Tennessee, Michigan, USC, UCLA, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington and Cal. At this point, I'm interested in everyone who is interested in me and I want to give everyone an equal opportunity to recruit me.
"I'm in no hurry to commit anywhere and just want to wait things out and see how all the teams look on the field this year. I had a great time at USC's camp and they seem very interested in me right now.
"I also liked ASU's camp a lot and I'm looking closely at Oregon, Washington and Cal as well. Right now, I'm just looking for a place where I can come in and hopefully play early and I also want to go to a school where they're known for producing top defensive backs.
"I want to go where the safeties are featured and sent off to the NFL as well. Like I said, I'm a hungry player right now and I'm just going to keep working hard and see what kind of interest I get once all these schools see my highlight film. I just send it out and I've already gotten a pretty good response so hopefully I'll see a few more offers come my way."
