Tech going hard after Tennison

Bullard (Texas) 2017 tight end Major Tennison only played in six of 11 games for Bullard in 2014, but he made a quick impression and an instant impact.
The 6-6, 230-pound standout earned district Newcomer of the Year honors as a sophomore, and he grabbed his first college offer a few weeks ago from the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

"It was a crazy blessing because you grow up watching people on TV saying I wish I could do that," Tennison said. "Then hearing on the phone that they were going to give me an offer was honestly unbelievable. At first I had to ask and make sure that I heard him right because it's a childhood dream come true."
Texas Tech East Texas area recruiter and linebackers coach Trey Haverty, offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Eric Morris, and head coach Kliff Kingsbury were all on the phone when the news was delivered, and the moment definitely caught his attention. The moment is not the only thing about Tech which caught his attention.
"It's all good just from watching some old games and looking up a few things," Tennison said. "I know they had a tight end (Jace Amaro) that played for the Jets this past year and won some kind of rookie award. I know they pass a lot. I'm really interested in being able to be in that type of offense."
Tennison plans to visit and Texas Tech this summer with his family, as well as attend a Texas Tech camp. He has yet to receive attention from other college programs, and he does not have any other camp or visit plans at this time.
College interest and attention is nice, but right now he has a couple of other things at the top of his priority list.
"The top priority is definitely the grades and trying to finish up with all A's," Tennison said. "Then second priority would definitely be offseason workouts."
He does plan to play 7-on-7 with his teammates and he will also play AAU basketball with Magic Franchise out of Tyler, Texas.
Tennison recorded 20 receptions for 379 yards and five touchdowns on the football field as a sophomore in 2014. On the basketball court, he earned district Newcomer of the Year as a freshman in 2013-14, and first-team all-district honors as a sophomore in 2014-15.
