Tears adds Syracuse offer

Oak Lawn (Ill.) Richards wide receiver Spencer Tears has kept his recruitment open since parting ways with Nebraska in May, and on Tuesday he was presented with a new option to consider.
"My coach texted me and told me that Syracuse offered, so get ready to answer the phone," Tears reported. "He told me originally they were going to offer last Friday, but they didn't come because of the weather.

"I got on the phone with the coaches and they told me they wanted to offer because they saw that I am a big-time playmaker at wide receiver and that's what they are looking for."
Tears spoke with Syracuse offensive coordinator George McDonald on the phone call when he heard about the offer.
"I had a nice conversation with the coaches," Tears said. "They are going to see any dates when I can get out there. I am going to keep my options open and see what happens, but I probably will be going to take a visit to Syracuse."
The research into Syracuse is just beginning for Tears, but they are a school that has been on his radar prior to Tuesday's offer.
"I don't really know a lot, but I have heard of them because they are a big school and I've seen them on TV," Tears said. "They have always been in the picture, but they finally just offered."
Tears has not attended any college games this fall and he has yet to schedule any official visits, but he will be looking at potential visits in the weeks to come.
"I have been talking to a couple schools and seeing about getting out to a few games," Tears said. "I don't really have a list of where I am going to go right now, but some visits I'll be taking to see a couple games are Louisville, Bowling Green and maybe Purdue."
Louisville is listed among Tears offers and is a school he has been in regular contact with since his de-commitment from Nebraska.
"The coaches check in with me on Twitter about twice a week," Tears said.
The 6-foot-1, 172-pound Tears has been sidelined the first two weeks of the season with an injury, but expects to get cleared to go for this weekend's game.
